Small, Medium & Micro Enterprises sponsor – W&RSETA
The Wholesale & Retail Sector Education and Training Authority, W&RSETA, is sponsoring 400 small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) to take part in this year’s event. The sponsorship includes an exhibition stand at the expo, plus up to 16 days of training in small business management, marketing, finance and merchandising. The SMMEs have been selected in partnership with representative business chambers in Johannesburg and Gauteng, including Soweto, Alexandra, Diepsloot and Orange Farm. Assistance has also been received from The Business Place, Gauteng Enterprise Propeller and the City of Johannesburg Department of Economic Development.
The W&RSETA is a public entity which was established to address skills development in the wholesale and retail sector through the implementation of learnerships, disbursement of grants and monitoring of education and training.
The W&RSETA aims to increase the level of investment in education and training in the sector and to improve the return on that investment. Our mission is to contribute to the social and economic development and growth of the country by enabling education and training of the highest quality in the wholesale and retail sector, to the benefit of employers, employees and learners.
Broadcast media sponsors

Daily Sun and Sunday Sun, South Africa’s biggest circulation daily and Sunday newspapers, have returned as newspaper sponsors. News of the Soweto Festival Expo will reach over 3-million readers via the main body of the newspapers, as well as their Sun Soweto, Sun Ekurhuleni and Sun Tshwane editions.
Youth Zone Sponsor – Gauteng City Region Academy (GCRA) and MTN
GCRA, an independently run tertiary institution under the wing of the Gauteng Department of Education, is this year’s Silver Sponsor of the Youth Zone, in partnership with MTN. In partnership with the GCRA, the festival organisers are bussing in 5 000 Grade 10 to 12 learners from Soweto and surrounding schools on 21 and 22 Spetember to visit the Youth Zone.
Beer Garden & Pouring Rights Sponsor – Hansa
This year the Beer Garden is sponsored by SA Breweries brand, Hansa Pilsener. Visitors to the festival (over 18) will be able to sit with their favourite drink and listen to the music from the main stage or just chill with family and friends in the two beer gardens set up specially for the event.
Arts Pavilion Sponsor – Jabu Stone
Jabu Stone, patron of the arts and founder of hair care company Afrocentric Design, is a proud supporter of the Art Pavilion.
